  • De Bruyne and Sterling scores the early two goals
  • Ozil not in the matchday squad

Second-placed Manchester City emphatically defeated 10-man Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium as the Premier League restarted after the COVID-19 outbreak.

Mikel Arteta’s men began brightly, despite losing Granit Xhaka to an early injury, but Arsenal’s Bernd Leno was the busier goalkeeper as the first half wore on, making several good saves.

Everything starts to go wrong for Arsenal when Pablo Mari got injured and he was replaced with David Luiz.

The early two goals was conceded by Arsenal’s David Luiz which later got red card.

Aguero and Sterling combine superbly well to cut through Arsenal’s defence. The sub hits the post with his clipped effort but the rebound falls to Foden who slots home.

And in first-half stoppage time, Raheem Sterling thumped in a shot from an angle after collecting Kevin De Bruyne’s pass, which David Luiz could not intercept.

Three minutes after half-time, Luiz was penalised for fouling Riyad Mahrez as the winger charged into the penalty area and was red-carded by referee Anthony Taylor.

De Bruyne converted the penalty and Pep Guardiola’s side enjoyed the vast majority of possession before Phil Foden made it 3-0 in stoppage time, following a worrying injury to defender Eric Garcia after an accidental clash with Ederson.

Man City stay second on 60 points while Arsenal remain ninth on 40.
