His goal is the 7th of the season and moving Spurs to 1st on the log with 17pts from eight matches.

Harry Kane headed in a late winner at West Bromwich Albion to take Tottenham Hotspur top with his 150th Premier League goal.

Both teams had first-half chances, the best of which fell to Son Heung-min whose close-range shot was blocked.

West Brom nearly opened the scoring when Callum Robinson’s floated cross was headed off the line by Eric Dier.

Conor Gallagher clipped a post from longe range and Darnell Furlong headed at Hugo Lloris, before Giovani Lo Celso missed a big chance at the other end moments after coming on.

Spurs turned up the heat and after Carlos Vinicius was superbly denied by Sam Johnstone, Kane flicked Matt Doherty’s 88th-minute cross beyond West Brom’s goalkeeper to secure a 1-0 win.

Kane’s seventh goal this season makes him the 10th member of the “150 Club” and moves Spurs on to 17 points, one more than Southampton.

West Brom remain winless in 18th place.
